As usual, Music Camp 2001 was held the second week of July, the 8th through 13th, ending with the traditional Friday night program. This year, we had 171 campers and 29 staff.
What has now become a Music Camp tradition we were woken from our restful sleep at 7am. The Pete and Dave Morning Radio show was powered thru this lake shore community by Christopher and Jeremy McDonald, with their new sound system. Pete Kennaday and Dave Benson, combine their comedy and musical knowledge to start each day, and to prompt dancers into the vale. Again this year the show was heard a mile away, which unfortunately brought a visit from the Volvo Lady.
This year we had some old time favorite evening activities, counselor hunt, a scavenger hunt, a skit night and the ever popular after dark Capture the Flag with Pete again singing the rules. This time to the tune of Don McLean’s American Pie. Afternoons at camp brought out some traditional activities.
Wednesday afternoon we had our 200-foot water slide and Tuesday we had our camp softball game. This year during the water slide we had ‘Jayne’s revenge‘ or I mean thanks. Both days the sound system was out either doing play by play or playing tunes to ‘slide by’.
Band Concert 2001
Choral Concert 2001
We were blessed with beautiful weather all week, including Friday night for our concert. We again held the band concert at the outdoor chapel, and the choral concert outside of the Chapel, and performed the choral musical “2Die4” by Dennis and Nan Allen. After that we said our good-byes until next year when we meet again, the second week in July.
