Music Camp 1998 was held July 12th through July 17th, ending with the traditional Friday night program. Attending camp this year were 186 campers and 30 staff. This was the largest Music Camp ever in its 26-year history.
Below is a picture of all of the campers and staff.
This year the musical selected was “The Message” by Dennis and Nan Allen. The theme of this musical was that there are plenty of messages that we are bombarded with, from TV commercials, words from our friends, and our own conscience. The message that we should listen to, and the one we should deliver, is the one from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Each morning at 7am we are greeted by the Pete and Dave Morning Radio show. Powered by technician Kevin Kirschner the boys ‘blast’ their way into our cabins and down the lake. Activities we had during the week were a Beach Party, Counselor Hunt, Capture the Flag, and a Skit Night. On Wednesday afternoon we had our traditional Water Slide and on Thursday we had our camp softball game. The softball game is special because at Music Camp one of our mottos is, “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing.” So for our softball game the sound system comes out, an electric keyboard comes out and we have play-by-play commentary and organ music. It’s just like being at the ball yard.
